Baghdad: The Ministry of Migration signed a cooperation mechanism with the Prime Minister’s Office to care for returnees and empower them economically. A statement by the Ministry of Migration stated, “Under the patronage of the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, and in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Karim Al-Nouri, a joint cooperation mechanism was signed at the headquarters of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement today, Monday, between the Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office/Directorate of Leadership and Excellence. This mechanism aims to care for returnees from abroad and empower them economically.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added, “This step stems from strengthening the principle of integration between state institutions. The mechanism seeks to provide opportunities for economic stability for returnees and enhance opportunities for self-employment and social entrepreneurship by granting loans to unemployed returnees to their homeland.”
The statement continued, “According to the agreement, this mechanism will be implemented by engaging returnees in the ‘Riyada’ initiative through the National Referral Program, which will contribute to their integration into the local labor market and expand their options in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, in addition to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises that promote community development.”
The statement indicated that this initiative is part of the Iraqi government’s efforts to build institutional partnerships that provide practical solutions for social groups in need of special care, ensuring stability for them after their return from countries of migration and opening new horizons for economic and social integration.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office by Dr. Hussein Flamarz Taher, Advisor to the Prime Minister and CEO of the Riyada Initiative Team, while Dr. Safaa Hussein Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Migration Affairs, signed on behalf of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement.
