Baghdad: The Ministry of Planning has initiated discussions with the World Bank to explore mechanisms for supporting and developing Iraq's education sector. A joint technical meeting was held on Wednesday, led by Dr. Maher Hammad Johaan, the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, alongside Emmanuel Salinas, the Special Representative of the World Bank in Iraq. The focus of the meeting was on programs and projects that aim to bolster the education sector in the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting reviewed World Bank-supported programs and projects, emphasizing core program activities, I3RF projects, and initiatives funded under previous budget laws. The World Bank delegation introduced a proposal designed to enhance educational efficiency in Iraq. This proposal includes a range of ideas and initiatives intended to strengthen the education sector's reform process through an integrated program. This program targets the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, in collaboration with the Higher Committee for Education Development in Iraq and the Ministry of Planning.

Both parties have agreed to convene another meeting after discussions with relevant stakeholders are concluded. The goal of the subsequent meeting will be to finalize the outcomes and establish suitable mechanisms for implementing the proposed initiatives.
