Ministry of Trade: Iraqi-Italian Memorandum of Understanding Signed to Enhance Industrial Cooperation


Baghdad: The Department of Foreign Economic Relations at the Ministry of Trade announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi-Italian Business Council and the Italian Federation of Mechanical Industries (ANIMA Confindustria), under the auspices of the Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Rome. The memorandum aims to enhance economic and industrial cooperation between the private sectors of both countries and facilitate the exchange of technical and technological expertise.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Riyadh Al-Hashemi, stated that the signing of the memorandum was part of a series of official meetings held in Rome with Italian institutions and companies. This coincided with the Council’s participation in the SIGEP World Expo for food industries and catering services, held in Rimini from January 16-18, 2026, and was coordinated with the Commercial Attaché.

The statement indicat
ed that these initiatives follow the opening of the Iraqi-Italian Business Council in Baghdad in October 2025 and are part of the Ministry of Trade’s vision to strengthen economic relations between Iraq and Italy and support initiatives that contribute to the development of the national economy.
