Baghdad: Moayad Al-Lami, the Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Arab Journalists Union, has expressed his confidence in the resilience and dedication of Iraqi journalists, highlighting their commitment to being at the forefront of the industry.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Lami emphasized that he does not fear for the future of Iraqi journalism due to the presence of committed journalists who prioritize integrity and respect. He stated that the value of an Iraqi journalist is measured by pride and respect, describing them as “hot-headed,” implying that their integrity is not easily compromised.

Al-Lami noted the absence of a generational shift in journalism, asserting that once someone becomes a journalist, they remain so regardless of age. He highlighted the significant difference in awareness levels, explaining that while young journalists possess creativity, they benefit greatly from the experience that comes with modern cultural exposure.

He further praised Iraqi journalists for their courageous coverage of conflict zones, noting their role in conveying the truth and showcasing Iraq’s victories during times when the country was perceived as being in ruins. Al-Lami acknowledged the impact of external influences on journalists, stressing the importance of learning from advancements in other countries to enhance journalistic capabilities.

Al-Lami also addressed the challenging conditions faced by Iraqi journalists, pointing out the need for better financial stability, suitable living conditions, and unrestricted freedom. He emphasized that journalists are in constant search of freedom to effectively carry out their duties.
