Riyadh: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday evening, as part of consultations on recent developments in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Pezeshkian expressed his “thanks and appreciation to the Saudi Crown Prince for the phone call and for his sympathy and fraternal views. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the relevant authorities, for their fraternal and sincere cooperation in providing services to pilgrims.”

The Iranian president described the recent attacks launched by the “Zionist entity” against his country as “evidence of this entity’s aggressive nature.”

Pezeshkian emphasized, “Since I began my work as President of the Republic, I have sought to promote peace, stability, and security in the region, but the Zionist entity has obstructed and sabotaged all our efforts to achieve any accomplishment.”

Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of “strengthening unity and brotherhood among Islamic countries to prevent the criminal actions of the Zionist entity, especially in Gaza.”

He added, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, given its position in the region and the Islamic world, can play an effective role in promoting unity among Islamic countries to defend the rights of all Muslims in the region.” I hope that together we can bring peace to the region.”

For his part, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman condemned, during the phone call, the “unjust attacks of the Zionist entity” against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He expressed his condolences and sympathy for the deaths of a number of Iranians as a result of these “crimes.”

Prince Mohammed bin Salman said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands with its brothers in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and today the entire Islamic world, with one voice, supports you. I strive in all my diplomatic dealings to exert pressure and stop Israel’s attacks.”

The Saudi Crown Prince added: “We believe that Israel is focusing all its efforts on deepening tensions to drag the United States into these conflicts, but on the other hand, we believe that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s wise response will deprive them of this opportunity.”

The Saudi Crown Prince concluded by affirming that his country “will spare no effort in helping its brothers in Iran.”
