Rabat: The Moroccan national team launched its campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations 'Morocco 2025' with a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Comoros, in the opening match of the tournament's 35th edition. The match was played as part of Group A at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the Moroccan capital, Rabat. The first half ended in a goalless draw, despite Morocco's dominance, and saw Atlas Lions forward Soufiane Rahimi miss a penalty kick in the 11th minute. According to National Iraqi News Agency, in the second half, Morocco took full control of the game, with Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz opening the scoring in the 55th minute. Substitute striker Ayoub El Kaabi then sealed the win by adding the second goal in the 74th minute. Group A also includes Mali and Zambia, who are set to face each other later today, Monday, at 5:00 p.m.
