MP: We need 5 years for electricity to return to normal

Baghdad, The MP of the Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee, Hassan Al-Asadi, affirmed that the return of electric power to its normal state without interruption requires 5 years.

He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the establishment of any steam plant instead of the gas station needs to be established and entered into service from 2 to 3 years, provided that sufficient fund is available to the Ministry of Electricity.

Al-Asadi added: The ministry’s projects, with governmental and parliamentary support, will lead to an improvement in the grid during the coming summer, with the payment of financial dues for Iranian gas, in addition to the need for time and money to rehabilitate the stations.

The country’s electric power grid suffer from problems in production and distribution, which led to continuous interruptions in supply.
