Baghdad:Parliamentary circles are experiencing significant political changes as a new wave of withdrawals occurs from the Reconstruction and Development Coalition bloc, with members joining other political groups.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, MP Yasser Witwit has officially announced his departure from the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, promptly joining the newly formed “Steadfast” bloc, which was established by his colleague, Burhan al-Maamouri.

The past few months have seen numerous defections from the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, following Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s appointment to form a new government. Notable departures include the “National Contract” bloc, headed by Faleh al-Fayyad, and the “Sumerians” alliance, led by former MP and minister Ahmed al-Asadi, who is currently wanted by the judiciary. Additionally, Ali Nahir and Hussein al-Ankoushi have joined the “Services” alliance under the leadership of Shibl
al-Zaidi.

Compounding these political shifts, Operation Dawn has resulted in the arrest of several MPs from the Reconstruction and Development bloc on corruption charges. Prominent figures arrested include Mohammed al-Sayhoud, Alia Nassif, Bahaa al-Din al-Nouri, Hassan al-Khafaji, and Ashwaq al-Jubouri.
