Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command announced today the arrest of several suspects involved in drug trafficking, drug promotion, and the possession of unlicensed weapons during security operations carried out in both Karkh and Rusafa.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a press statement, the Command said that “security forces set up surprise temporary checkpoints in various parts of the capital, which resulted in the arrest of three suspects and seized 14 vehicle license plates, 5 passports, and a drone without official authorization in their possession.”

The statement added that “other individuals were apprehended on charges of possessing unlicensed weapons and ammunition, in addition to involvement in drug abuse and trafficking.”

The Baghdad Operations Command stressed that these security measures aim to enhance stability and protect citizens from any attempts to undermine the safety of the capital.
