Najaf: Najaf witnessed the convening of the annual conference commemorating the 106th anniversary of the immortal 1920 Revolution. The conference was held at the Palace of Culture in Najaf, under the slogan: "The 1920 Revolution embodied the principles of Imam Hussein's (peace be upon him) revolution against injustice and tyranny for the sake of freedom, dignity, and independence."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conference was attended by officials from the local authorities in the province and its council, a number of members of the Council of Representatives, a representative from the Directorate of Tribal Affairs in the Ministry of Interior, and representatives from the Najaf Governorate Tribal Affairs Department, in addition to a large gathering of dignitaries, sheikhs, prominent figures, and social, academic, and cultural personalities.
The conference, held annually, recalled the national heroism displayed by the 1920 Revolution, emphasizing that it represents a pivotal moment in the history of modern Iraq, as it embodied national unity and cohesion among the Iraqi people in the face of occupation. It stressed the importance of instilling its national values in the hearts of future generations and strengthening the spirit of belonging and national identity, in loyalty to the sacrifices of our forefathers who wrote shining pages in the history of Iraq.
