Najaf: The Najaf Provincial Council has enacted a significant administrative shift by voting to dismiss the directors of municipal departments in the city center, as well as in the districts and sub-districts of the province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the decision was made during a regular session held today. The council has instructed the Governor of Najaf to annul the administrative orders that appointed these directors and to appoint their deputies as temporary managers of these departments. This temporary arrangement is set to remain effective until August 10, 2026, by which time permanent directors will be selected by the Provincial Council.
The council has also urged the governor to present a list of candidates to manage the remaining departments within a strict timeframe of 10 days from the date of the directive. This move is part of a broader effort to reassess and ensure the efficiency of directors affiliated with federal ministries and the heads of administrative units across the districts and sub-districts. The aim is to appoint competent individuals who can deliver optimal service to the citizens of Najaf.
