Najaf: Najaf Friday prayer leader and Imam Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji urged citizens from all sects to update their voting cards and actively participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections to choose the “most qualified” candidates.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Qabanji, during his Friday political sermon, emphasized the importance of moving beyond sectarianism. He declared that Ba’ath Party supporters and adversaries of Ahl al-Bayt would not achieve power as long as supporters of Ahl al-Bayt remain vigilant. He highlighted the need for a political majority to govern, aligning with constitutional principles, and called for collective enthusiasm in correcting previous electoral mistakes.
Al-Qabanji further stated that the solution to political challenges lies in the ballot box, advocating for the peaceful transfer of power rather than demonstrations or military coups. On local issues, he expressed support for Najaf’s demonstrations demanding improved services and electricity, urging the local government to heed public concerns.
