National Security Advisor: The Region is Going Through a Sensitive Phase that Requires De-Escalation and Strengthening Stability


Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji affirmed on Sunday that the region is going through a sensitive phase that requires de-escalation and enhanced stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisor’s media office stated in a press release that Qasim al-Araji received former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Taylor and discussed the challenges facing the region and their direct repercussions on the situation in Iraq. He emphasized that the region is going through a sensitive phase that requires de-escalation and enhanced stability, stressing that dialogue and diplomacy are the best way to achieve this.

He pointed out that Iraq is pursuing a balanced policy in its relations with all parties, and through this policy, it seeks to contribute to the stability of the region and prevent it from sliding into further tension. He stressed the necessity of urging countries to repatriate their ISIS nationals who were recently received from Syrian prisons, affirm
ing that ISIS gangs still pose a real threat to humanity and regional and international security.

For her part, Taylor emphasized the importance of Iraq’s pivotal role in the region, noting that it is an active participant in efforts to restore stability and enhance regional security.
