Baghdad: The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, chaired the regular meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security on Wednesday, which focused on reviewing the latest security developments across the country and adopting the necessary decisions and recommendations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief, Major General Sabah Al-Numan, stated that the meeting emphasized the importance of unifying efforts and strengthening coordination among all security agencies to effectively secure the border strip with neighboring countries, while ensuring full support for the units assigned to these tasks.

Al-Numan added that the Council reviewed the progress of investigations into the recent attacks targeting oil installations, vital areas, and Iraqi military equipment, including radar systems, as well as a recent incident at an agricultural office in the al-Karkh side of Baghdad.

The session also addressed ongoing efforts by security forces to fortify international borders, follow up on military fortifications, and ensure all necessary requirements are met to guarantee the success of their missions. In this context, the Commander-in-Chief praised the efforts of the Border Forces Command and the supporting units.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the development of intelligence capabilities through the adoption of modern technologies and innovative methods. The issue of foreign labor in Iraq was also examined, particularly the procedures for granting entry visas, with an emphasis on regulating foreign labor in a way that does not negatively affect the country’s economic, social, or security conditions.
