Baghdad: The National Security Service announced today, Tuesday, the dismantling of a complex terrorist cell in Anbar province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official Spokesperson for the Service, Arshad al-Hakim, stated that the dismantling of this terrorist cell was the result of an intelligence effort that lasted for more than a year.
He further detailed that a dangerous terrorist known as Abu Ayman al-Rawi, who held the position of the so-called ‘governor of Anbar,’ was arrested while wearing a suicide belt, just before executing his plans.
The investigations also led to the arrest of other terrorists involved in various roles within the organization, including those responsible for transportation, logistical support, manufacturing explosive-laden drones, and managing the chemical weapons program.
The threat posed by the so-called ‘Anbar security chief’ was neutralized when his residence was surrounded. During the siege, two of his companions detonated themselves. Al-Hakim emphasized that discreet and precise intelligence work is essential to thwarting any plots before they can be carried out.
