Baghdad: The National Iraqi Security Service confirmed today, Sunday, that it used modern technology for the first time this year through a special electronic program to secure the electoral process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official Spokesperson for the Service, Arshad al-Hakim, stated that the Service is actively engaged in its intelligence tasks as part of the 2025 election security plan. This effort is in collaboration with security agencies and intelligence services, aiming to ensure a safe and stable electoral environment throughout Iraq.

Al-Hakim detailed that the Service's responsibilities encompass securing polling centers and protecting the warehouses of the Independent High Electoral Commission. Additionally, the Service is responsible for escorting the detachments tasked with transporting ballot boxes post-voting and securing power stations and camera equipment to maintain service stability during the election period.

He further elaborated that the National Security Service provides the Joint Operations Command and the Higher Security Committee with precise intelligence data and analyses. This involves identifying strengths and weaknesses observed during the voting process, as well as monitoring media outlets and social media platforms to address any negative indicators in accordance with legal protocols.

Al-Hakim highlighted that this year, the Service employed modern technology for the first time through a specialized electronic program aimed at securing the electoral process. This program was distributed to all security commands and field detachments to facilitate the transmission of directives and instructions, thereby expediting monitoring and immediate response procedures. The program is equipped with advanced security systems developed by the Service's technical team.

In concluding his statement, al-Hakim underscored that these measures are part of a collective national endeavor to ensure the security of the elections and to safeguard the will of the Iraqi voter.
