Baghdad: National Security Service detachments seized large shipments of leaked and smuggled school textbooks that violate the regulations and instructions of the Ministry of Education.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Service stated in a press release that its detachments seized a vehicle coming from one of the provinces at the Al-Shaab checkpoint, based on precise intelligence and continuous field surveillance. The vehicle was carrying 6,000 copies of leaked textbooks. Another vehicle was also seized carrying 1,600 books.

In a related incident, at the same checkpoint, the Service’s detachments seized another vehicle carrying 1,070 smuggled school textbooks in a well-planned ambush after obtaining judicial approval.

The statement added: “The seized items and the accused were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.”
