Doha: Our national football team has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Arab Cup, despite a 2-0 defeat to the Algerian national team at Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the match saw an early setback for our team when player Hussein Ali received a straight red card after just three minutes for a foul on Algeria's Yacine Brahimi. This left our team to play the remainder of the match with ten men. Algeria capitalized on this advantage, scoring their first goal in the final minute of the first half with a header from Tougai. In the second half, a critical error by our goalkeeper Fahad Talib resulted in Algeria's second goal. Talib's attempt to clear the ball inadvertently deflected off defender Saad Natiq and into the net. The match concluded with this scoreline. Our national team is now set to face Jordan, the top team from Group C, in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Algeria will go on to compete against the UAE in their quarterfinal matchup.
