NATO Summit Commences in Ankara as Erdogan Meets Global Leaders

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will host 32 heads of state and government during the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government in Ankara. The summit, which spans Tuesday and Wednesday, will take place at the presidential complex.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan is scheduled to engage with notable leaders including Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron, Alexander Staub, Peter Pellegrini, Keir Starmer, and Friedrich Mertz. Meetings with Giorgia Meloni, Mark Carney, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and European Council President Antonio Costa are also planned. A bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump is expected on Tuesday, followed by a joint press conference.

A dinner in honor of the participating leaders will be held at the Presidential Complex on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, Erdogan will welcome the leaders at the summit venue, with a group photo to follow. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte will deliver the opening speech, after which Erdogan and other leaders will address the session.

The summit will focus on an assessment of the alliance's increased defense investments and discussions on the situation in Ukraine. In addition to the heads of state and government, around 100 ministers, senior diplomats, and representatives of international organizations will participate in the event. Following the meeting, separate press conferences will be held at the Beshtepe National Exhibition Hall.
