Erbil: Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani confirmed on Wednesday that the inauguration of the new U.S. consulate building in Erbil underscores the continuity of relations between the region and Washington, describing it as a 'historic relationship.' Speaking at the opening ceremony, Barzani highlighted that the Peshmerga fought alongside U.S. forces against ISIS, and that the United States has consistently supported the Kurdish people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani emphasized the region's commitment to working with the federal government in Baghdad to resolve outstanding issues in accordance with the constitution. He underscored the importance of ensuring effective governance and stability within a federal system based on the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement.
