Baghdad: President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Syria on the historic agreement made between the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Madhloum Abdi and the head of the transitional administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa. Barzani said in a statement: “This agreement represents an appropriate roadmap for the future and a correct transitional phase, and the Syrians’ welcome of this agreement reflects their desire, like all the peoples of the region, for stability and peaceful solutions away from violence.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nechirvan Barzani affirmed the Kurdistan Region’s full support for the security and stability of Syria, stressing the need to “preserve the rights of all components of the Syrian people and their active participation in building a free and prosperous Syria.”
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian transitional President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, signed an agreement on Monday evening to integrate their forces into official institutions. The Syrian presidency announced that al-Sharaa and the commander of the SDF, Madhloum Abdi, signed the agreement, which stipulates the integration of the civilian and military SDF forces affiliated with the Kurdish self-administration into the framework of the Syrian state.
