Erbil: Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received a letter today, Sunday, from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which Rubio described the ongoing partnership between the United States and the Kurdistan Region as "a foundation for stability and progress."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rubio praised Nechirvan Barzani's role in reopening the pipeline between Iraq and Turkey to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan Region and welcomed this step, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency. Rubio wrote to Nechirvan Barzani: "Your leadership and constructive partnership embody the spirit of responsibility and wisdom that contribute to strengthening peace and cooperation."
In another part of the letter, Rubio expressed his appreciation for Nechirvan Barzani's continued role in facilitating dialogue between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), and for his efforts to protect calm and stability in Syria.
After conveying his greetings, thanks, and appreciation for the enduring alliance between the two sides, US Secretary of State Rubio concluded his message by commending Nechirvan Barzani's efforts toward partnership and unity. He also emphasized that strengthening economic cooperation between the United States and the Kurdistan Region reinforces their shared interests.
