Tel Aviv: Israeli media reported on Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted a proposal from Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, which includes a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the proposal involves a 60-day ceasefire, with the United States, Egypt, and Qatar acting as guarantors of its continuation and any possible extension. Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will oversee the finalization of the agreement details and preside over the negotiations.

The proposal document outlines that the United States will ensure Israel’s adherence to the ceasefire terms. It also requires Hamas to release 10 living detainees and the bodies of 18 individuals on the first and seventh days of the ceasefire. Furthermore, humanitarian aid is to be dispatched to Gaza immediately following Hamas’s acceptance of the ceasefire terms.

The document also specifies that all Israeli military operations will be documented once the agreement takes effect. Negotiations on a permanent ceasefire are set to commence on the first day of the truce, with Hamas expected to provide complete information on all remaining prisoners by the tenth day.

The Witkoff document further details that aid distribution will be managed by the United Nations and the Red Crescent. The release of prisoners is expected to occur without public celebrations or demonstrations.
