Baghdad:Recent years have seen a rise in interest among Iraqi citizens wanting to visit Japan for tourism, spurred by new visa facilitation measures introduced by the Japanese Embassy.

According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akira Endo, highlighted that obtaining a visa to Japan has become significantly easier compared to a decade ago. The embassy has simplified the visa application process, making it more accessible to Iraqi citizens.

Applicants can now submit their visa requests through authorized travel agencies in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Baghdad. This system allows for the completion of necessary documentation and submission of applications according to approved procedures.

The Ambassador further explained that short-term stay visas are available for tourism, family visits, and other activities not exceeding 90 days. Typically, the visa processing takes five working days after meeting all requirements, although processing times may be longer if cases require further referral to Japanese authorities.

These visa facilitation efforts are part of a broader initiative to enhance Iraqi-Japanese relations. In addition to this, Japan is keen to expand its economic presence in Iraq by supporting infrastructure and development projects and increasing the presence of Japanese companies in the Iraqi market.
