Wellington: New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters announced today that New Zealand is considering the recognition of a Palestinian state. Peters stated that Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s government plans to make a formal decision on the matter in September. The government intends to present its approach to United Nations leaders within a week, signaling a significant diplomatic step.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also declared that Australia will recognize a Palestinian state. This announcement is set to coincide with the UN General Assembly in September. This move by both countries indicates a shift in their foreign policy stance regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
