Kapshurawa: Nineteen students were killed and more than 60 others injured when a school bus overturned in Kapshurawa district, eastern Uganda.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ugandan media, citing local authorities, reported that the bus was carrying students returning from a school trip when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn in the Chikwatet area.

Police stated that initial investigations suggest a mechanical failure as the likely cause of the accident, adding that dozens of injured people are still receiving treatment in hospitals.

Chikwatet Hill is considered one of the most dangerous roads in Uganda, having witnessed frequent fatal accidents, prompting police to renew their calls for bus drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good working order.
