Nineveh: Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil stated that the reconstruction of Sinjar District is a top priority within the local government's plan, in coordination with federal authorities.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Dakhil said, "Current efforts focus on disbursing financial compensation to those affected by terrorist crimes, in addition to granting funds to encourage displaced persons to return to their areas of origin."
He explained that "the plan includes the implementation of vital projects, including the establishment of Sinjar University to provide an advanced educational environment, the construction of an integrated hospital to serve health needs, and the development of a main road in Sinuni subdistrict to improve infrastructure and boost economic activity."
He stressed that "reconstruction is not limited to physical construction only, but also represents a process to restore community trust and human dignity, especially among members of the Yazidi community who were subjected to gross violations during the period of ISIS control," noting that "the local government is committed to continuous work to ensure that the tragedies experienced by citizens are not repeated, indicating that the pace of reconstruction is proceeding steadily, with support and cooperation from various concerned parties, to achieve a safe, stable and comprehensive return for all residents of Sinjar."
