Baghdad: North Korea condemned Japan's Tomahawk missile tests, asserting that it would not stand idly by in the face of Japan's "military development." Kim Yo-jong, vice chair of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, stated that these tests pose a threat to the security of North Korea and other countries in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kim Yo-jong emphasized that North Korea "will not remain a mere spectator to Japan's military development" in light of the decisions being made by Tokyo. In a statement, she added, "Japan is accelerating its transformation into a militaristic state, taking advantage of the sharp and rapid changes in the current international situation."

The Japanese Ministry of Defense had previously announced the Tomahawk missile tests, conducted with the support of the US Navy, describing them as "a manifestation of progress" in its missile program. This announcement has further heightened tensions between North Korea and Japan.

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu had previously stated that Japan is pursuing an increasingly militaristic path, arguing that it is moving away from the commitments it made upon signing the surrender document after World War II. This sentiment echoes North Korea's concerns about Japan's military advancements in the region.

In addition, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Japan's accelerated rearmament steps undermine efforts to consolidate peace, security, and sustainable development in Asia. North Korea's condemnation of the missile tests reflects the broader geopolitical unease surrounding Japan's evolving military strategies.
