Baghdad: The engineering and technical staff at the Kirkuk Gas Power Plant achieved a significant milestone by successfully restarting the third generating unit (K3) and integrating it into the national grid. This operation was conducted under the oversight of Siemens Germany.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the work involved a comprehensive maintenance program for the generating unit. This program included essential technical tests of critical components such as the combustion chamber, compressor, and turbine. The team also addressed technical issues in line with approved operational standards to ensure the unit’s efficient and reliable return to service.

The dedicated efforts of the staff, who worked around the clock, were instrumental in completing the maintenance and restart work. This enabled the unit to be brought online and connected to the national grid with a load capacity of 245 megawatts. The accomplishment underscores the technical expertise of the national staff and their capability to execute specialized tasks swiftly.
