Office of Grand Ayatollah Sistani: 2000 Dinars for Zakat al-Fitr

Najaf: The office of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has declared that the Zakat al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH will be set at 2000 dinars, replacing the traditional practice of giving flour.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this announcement reflects a change in the customary form of Zakat al-Fitr, which is typically a charitable donation given by Muslims at the end of Ramadan. The adjustment to 2000 dinars signifies a monetary value being placed on the contribution, which was historically given in the form of food items such as flour, aiding those in need during the festive period.
