Mecca: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Wednesday the “heinous attacks” carried out by the Houthi group against Mecca. In a statement, the OIC said these attacks constitute “terrorizing innocent civilians, violating the sanctity of holy sites and mosques, and provoking the feelings of Muslims worldwide.” The organization affirmed that the Houthi group’s actions against holy sites, mosques, and civilian infrastructure “constitute terrorism that contradicts Islamic values, international norms, principles, and laws.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the OIC emphasized that violating the sanctity of holy sites is “an unacceptable and intolerable transgression” and necessitates deterring the perpetrators and preventing anyone from contemplating such actions. Furthermore, the OIC expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to deter the “terrorism of the aggressors,” protect the sanctity of holy sites and the lives of Muslims, and safeguard its security and sovereignty.

The official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces, “The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen,” Major General Turki al-Maliki, announced that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces destroyed an enemy drone launched by the Houthi group on Tuesday evening before it entered the restricted airspace of the holy city of Mecca. Al-Maliki stated that the drone was intercepted south of Mecca at 6:50 PM on Tuesday.
