Jeddah: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its approval of the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, acknowledging the efforts of all countries that played a role in mediating this accord.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the OIC Secretariat has urged the international community to increase efforts and encourage Pakistan and India to enter into constructive dialogue. The aim is to resolve outstanding issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, through peaceful means and in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The OIC has emphasized its unwavering stance on adhering to the principles of the UN Charter and international law. This includes respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations and adhering to agreements that protect civilians, residential areas, and civilian facilities, including places of worship.
The General Secretariat reiterated its consistent position advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue. It highlighted the importance of this solution in ensuring security and stability in the South Asian region and preventing it from becoming a flashpoint between two nuclear powers.
