Oil and Integrity Collaborate on Workshop to Enhance Transparency in Government Contracts

Baghdad: The Ministry of Oil's Internal Audit Department, in collaboration with the Federal Integrity Commission's Education and Public Relations Department, organized a workshop on Sunday titled "Ethics of Public Service and Transparency in Government Contracts and Procurement According to the Federal Integrity Commission's Standards." The event focused on reinforcing transparency and integrity within government contracting processes.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop aimed at promoting principles of integrity and transparency in government contracting procedures. It reviewed prominent controls and standards established by the Integrity Commission to curb administrative and financial corruption in contracts and procurement.

The event saw attendance from various officials from the legal, administrative, and financial departments of the Ministry and its affiliated oil companies. Discussions were held on oversight and auditing mechanisms, alongside addressing the significant challenges encountered in the practical application of transparency standards.

Lecturers at the workshop stressed the necessity of activating internal auditing roles, digitizing tendering procedures, and encouraging employees to report any violations to ensure the protection of public funds.
