Diwaniyah: Dozens of petroleum engineering graduates in Diwaniyah staged a protest demanding the expansion of the Shanafiyah refinery to provide job opportunities and attract graduates. The protesters called on the central government and the Ministry of Oil to allocate positions or contracts within next year’s budget.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protestors emphasized the urgent need for job creation in the oil sector, highlighting the increasing number of graduates unable to find employment in their field. The call for expanding the Shanafiyah refinery is seen as a potential solution to absorb the growing workforce and enhance local economic development.
The demonstrators urged authorities to prioritize this issue in the upcoming budget discussions, stressing that employment in the oil industry could significantly improve living conditions and reduce unemployment rates in the region. The involvement of both the central government and the Ministry of Oil is deemed crucial in addressing these demands effectively.
