Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani, has affirmed that the ministry is committed to investing more than 70% of flared gas, aiming to capitalize fully on gas production before 2030.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abdul-Ghani, during his participation in a forum organized by the American-Iraqi Chamber of Commerce in Baghdad, highlighted the ministry’s efforts to increase oil production to satisfy the country’s demands. He emphasized the goal of fully investing the gas produced by 2030, which would lead to the elimination of flared gas.

The minister noted that the meeting was a continuation of a series of engagements between Iraqi employers and international partners, particularly American companies in the oil, energy, and investment sectors. These ongoing discussions underscore the commitment of both parties to collaborate within a promising investment environment across various technical and economic dimensions.

Furthermore, he stated, “The oil industry in Iraq is the backbone of its national economy, especially during this significant phase in the discourse between fossil energy and its clean and renewable alternatives.” He added that the ministry has outlined a clear strategy for the energy industry’s trajectory and emission reduction.
