Oil Ministry Plans Major Increase in Associated Gas Utilization

Hanoi:The Ministry of Oil announced plans to increase associated gas utilization rates by 80 million standard cubic feet per day by the end of the year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the announcement followed a field visit by Undersecretary for Gas Affairs, Izzat Sabir Ismail, to the North Oil Company and the North Gas Company. During this visit, Ismail led a meeting with directors-general, officials, and technical staff to review development plans for associated gas and discuss project implementation strategies.

Ismail emphasized the urgency of accelerating projects to capture and utilize associated gas, aiming to reduce flaring and boost national gas production. This initiative is crucial for supplying power plants with adequate fuel and increasing liquefied gas production.

The plan involves adding 80 million standard cubic feet per day of associated gas from the Bai Hassan, North Jambur, and Khabbaz fields. The ultimate goal is to capture and utilize all flared gas from North Oil Company fields by 2027.

Ismail stressed the importance of collaboration between the two companies to maximize dry gas supplies for power plants. He also reviewed maintenance work at North Gas Company’s facilities, ensuring that all technical supplies and safety standards are met to enhance operational stability and production rates.
