Oil Prices Retreat After Settlement Gains

Oil prices settled higher on wednesday before giving up most of their gains in post-settlement trading: Oil prices experienced an initial rise during Wednesday's trading session, with Brent crude futures increasing by $1.05, or 1.6 percent, ending at $66.52 per barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude saw an advance of 87 cents, or 1.42 percent, settling at $62.02 per barrel. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the gains achieved during the settlement were significantly reversed in after-hours trading. Brent crude futures fell by 92 cents, or 1.41 percent, to $64.55 per barrel, while WTI crude futures declined by 96 cents, or 1.57 percent, reaching $60.19 per barrel. This fluctuation indicates a volatile trading environment where initial gains were not sustained.
