Musandam: 23 crew members have been evacuated from an oil tanker after it was targeted off the coast of Musandam. The Omani Maritime Security Center announced on Tuesday that the vessel had been successfully towed to a port in Oman following a fire in its engine room.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident involved the Panamanian-flagged oil tanker “Eljaya.” The fire, which erupted in the engine room, was contained after the tanker was attacked 103 nautical miles northeast of the Musandam Governorate.

The Omani Maritime Security Center reported that while 23 crew members were evacuated safely, the search is ongoing for two crew members who remain unaccounted for. The tanker has since been relocated to a port in the Sultanate of Oman for further assessment.
