Muscat: Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi stressed on Tuesday the need to make concessions to resume nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran, adding that “raising the ceiling of conditions and demands makes their rapid resumption difficult.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al Busaidi added in exclusive statements to Al Arabiya.net that “efforts are ongoing to resume negotiations and bring the views of the United States and Iran closer together,” noting that “no date has yet been set for their resumption.”

He explained that “Oman is continuing its mediation efforts aimed at maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, de-escalating tensions, and promoting efforts to resume negotiations between Tehran and Washington, in order to preserve regional security and stability.”

Al-Busaidi affirmed “the Sultanate’s commitment to peaceful efforts to resolve regional and international crises through dialogue and diplomacy.” The Omani Foreign Minister called on Tehran and Washington to “present genuine intentions that pave the way for convergence of views so that negotiations can return to their original course.” He also announced Oman’s support for the Egyptian role aimed at containing the escalation.

Al-Busaidi added that his country “supports the Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and supports the humanitarian and political path that Egypt is working to implement in coordination with its Arab and international partners.”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty received his Omani counterpart on Tuesday, where they held a bilateral meeting, followed by the 16th session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee.
