Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the UN General Assembly’s resolution, including the “New York Declaration,” following the International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. It regarded the resolution as a demonstration of international consensus and commitment to establishing a Palestinian state, ending the Israeli occupation, and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the OIC, in a statement, urged all countries to fulfill their responsibilities by implementing the measures outlined in the declaration. This includes full recognition of the State of Palestine, supporting its full membership in the United Nations, and exerting pressure on Israel to halt its alleged crimes, aggression, settlement plans, displacement, destruction, and starvation against the Palestinian people.
The OIC also reiterated its commitment to collaborating with international parties to ensure the implementation of the declaration. This would enable the Palestinian people to achieve their inalienable rights, particularly their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
