Kabul: Afghan authorities announced on Monday that the death toll from Sunday’s earthquake in eastern Afghanistan has risen to 812, with 2,800 others injured. The 6.0-magnitude quake struck the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, causing significant human and material losses.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, initial reports had put the toll at around 500 dead and more than 1,000 injured. The earthquake has resulted in widespread devastation across the affected regions, with rescue operations underway to assist those trapped under debris and provide relief to the injured.

Efforts are being made to mobilize resources for emergency response, with local and international agencies coordinating to deliver aid and medical assistance to the impacted areas. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed as authorities continue to gather information from remote areas.
