Baghdad: The Pakistani army announced the killing of 10 militants during two separate security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest of the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the army reported that the first operation took place in South Waziristan, where a group of militants attempted to attack checkpoints. Security forces thwarted the attack, killing eight militants in an exchange of fire.

The statement added that Pakistani forces killed two more militants in a separate clash in the Dir district of the same province, noting that weapons and ammunition were found in their possession.

The army explained that search operations are still ongoing in the area to track down any other armed elements, with the aim of consolidating security and stability. These operations come at a time when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan is witnessing sporadic armed attacks, while security forces continue their efforts to counter these threats.
