Islamabad:Pakistan issued a warning on Tuesday regarding the potential economic impact of ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. The country emphasized that regional trade and economies could be adversely affected due to these geopolitical frictions, while reaffirming its commitment to diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing the tensions.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, Pakistan’s Minister for the Board of Investment, highlighted that the ongoing tension is exerting pressure on regional economies and trade flows. He noted that Islamabad is dedicated to diplomatic measures to de-escalate the situation.
Shaikh further expressed concerns that any escalation could worsen the economic challenges already facing Pakistan, particularly due to existing disruptions in trade with neighboring countries Afghanistan and India. He urged all involved parties to exercise restraint and work towards fostering regional peace and stability.
He also underscored the significance of restoring smooth trade relations with regional countries, including Iran, as a means to open up investment and export opportunities, thereby improving economic conditions.
