Baghdad: The Palestinian Cabinet called for international pressure on Israel to stop the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip, as displaced people continue to suffer from the bitter cold and thousands of tents have been flooded, uprooted, and destroyed.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Cabinet issued a statement urging the international community to apply urgent pressure on Israel to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The statement emphasized that a resolution can only be achieved through lifting the siege, opening crossings, and permitting the entry of humanitarian aid, building materials, and mobile homes to alleviate the dire situation.
The Council attributed full responsibility to the international community and the occupying authorities for the deaths of children in Gaza, who are suffering due to the severe cold and the destruction of their shelters. The flood and uprooting of tens of thousands of tents have exacerbated the plight of these displaced individuals.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has directed the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Action in the northern West Bank to collaborate with international partners to secure necessary financial resources for reconstruction. This directive follows a review of a detailed plan prepared in cooperation with various relevant institutions.
The Council also called upon Arab and Islamic nations to intervene in stopping Israeli efforts to displace Palestinians from Jerusalem and to confiscate land as part of the illegal E1 settlement plan. Additionally, the Council condemned Israeli restrictions on international and relief organizations operating in Palestinian territories, including the cutting off of electricity and water to UNRWA buildings in occupied Jerusalem.
These actions were described as a dangerous escalation that targets the legal and humanitarian presence of the agency, directly affecting the educational, health, and relief services provided to refugees.
