Baghdad: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for the adoption of an Arab plan to end the war in Gaza. He also called for Hamas to relinquish control and for all factions to hand over their weapons to the Palestinian Authority.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a speech at the Arab Summit in Baghdad, Abbas emphasized the severe threats facing the Palestinian cause, describing the situation in Gaza as part of a colonial project that jeopardizes the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He further articulated his political vision for Palestine, advocating for an Arab initiative to cease the ongoing conflict and establish peace in the region.

Abbas also urged for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, underscoring the importance of such a move for achieving lasting peace.
