Baghdad: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has made a fervent appeal to international leaders, the European Union, the Arab League’s Secretary-General, and the President of the UN Security Council, urging immediate intervention to halt what he terms “settler terrorism and Israeli aggression” in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abbas emphasized that the escalation by Israeli forces and settlers has led to significant civilian casualties, destruction of property, and attacks on Palestinian villages. He highlighted the protection and support these actions receive from the Israeli army and government, stressing the severe impact on Palestinian communities, including the burning of homes and religious sites, and the destruction of agricultural lands.

The Palestinian leader warned that these actions are part of a broader strategy to displace Palestinians from their lands, urging the international community to address the situation to prevent further escalation and to support peace efforts. Abbas called for immediate pressure on the Israeli government to halt settler activities, enforce accountability, and adhere to international laws, including UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which deems settlements illegal in Palestinian territories.

He reiterated the commitment of the State of Palestine to achieving a just and comprehensive peace through the two-state solution, rejecting violence, and collaborating with international partners to ensure regional security and stability.
