Baghdad: The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Electricity and Energy, Mohammed Nouri Al-Abd Rabbo, held the Ministry of Electricity and other negligent authorities responsible for the recent nationwide power outage, describing the incident as a 'serious failure' that directly harmed citizens' lives.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Abd Rabbo stated that what happened 'cannot be justified by technical or circumstantial excuses,' stressing that the crisis reveals shortcomings in planning and weaknesses in managing the electrical system.
He pointed out that the committee has launched urgent oversight measures, including summoning the responsible officials to identify the points of failure and uncover those responsible, in preparation for referring them to the judiciary to be held accountable in accordance with the law.
Al-Abd Rabbo called on the government to take immediate steps to address the causes of the outage and present a clear plan to ensure it does not happen again, emphasizing the need to repair the electricity network's infrastructure and improve its management.
He warned that 'the public's patience has run out, and there is no room anymore for negligence or mere promises.'
