Baghdad:In response to concerns over a recent financial policy, the Speaker of Parliament converted Wednesday’s session into a consultative one. This change was prompted by strong demands and objections from members of various blocs and committees regarding the decision to raise the official exchange rate of the dollar.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Parliament unanimously voted to postpone the agenda of the day’s session. Instead, they opted for a general debate focused on the implications of increasing the dollar exchange rate.
This decision reflects the significant concern among parliamentary members over the economic impact of the exchange rate adjustment. The session aimed to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on the potential repercussions and address the objections raised by various representatives.
