Baghdad: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions and calm the situation with his Lebanese counterpart, Nabih Berri, on Friday. The Speaker's media office stated in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, held a telephone conversation with Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri."
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the call, developments in the region were discussed, as well as regional and international efforts to stop the escalation and calm the situation, with emphasis on the need to include Lebanon in the truce. During the call, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament expressed his "condemnation of the continued Israeli aggression against the brotherly Lebanese people," affirming "Iraq's solidarity with Lebanon in facing the current challenges and its support for all measures that enhance its security and stability."
