Parliament to Host Minister of Electricity for Critical Discussion on Power Supply

Baghdad: The Speaker of Parliament has approved an official request to host the Minister of Electricity next Thursday before the Parliamentary Committee on Electricity and Energy. The meeting aims to address pressing issues related to electricity supply, transmission and distribution networks, and gas supplies for the national grid during the summer season.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee's acting chairman, MP Falah Jarmat, highlighted in a joint press conference on Sunday the deteriorating state of the national grid in Baghdad and other provinces. The current infrastructure is failing to meet the actual and increasing demand for power. Jarmat mentioned that a list of parliamentary questions and inquiries had been previously directed to the Ministry of Electricity to assess the supply situation. However, there has been no response or real action from the ministry's various departments up to this point.
